If you are planning to attend the Grand Prix de Monaco 2011 the actual dates for the free practices and the actual Grand Prix will be from Thursday 26 May to Sunday 29 May 2011. The first event begins on Thursday 26 May with the course closure at 07h00. The first free practice session will begin at 08h30 until 09h15. This will be followed by other practice sessions and at 16h15 until 16h45 will be a qualifying circuit. This is basically the schedule for Thursday, Friday and Saturday with a short lapped race taking place on Friday and Saturday. Then on Sunday 29 May the main race or the Grand Prix de Monaco 2011 begins with a drivers’ parade at 12h30 with the actual race of the 69th Grand Prix de Monaco 2011 beginning at 14h00. This race is 78 laps or two hours.
If you don’t follow grand prix racing it is a bit different from other forms of motor sports racing. The Formula 1 or F1 became a new race category in 1946 and is considered the highest class of single seat racing. These cars that attempt to run this race must all follow a specific formula. This formula is what the cars must be like to be able to compete in this race or in any of the formula 1 races that take place around the world. Europe is the traditional home to the Formula 1 race car teams. Formula 1 racing is considered the fastest of the car racing circuit in the world and can see speeds up to 220 mile per hour. There are also maximum RPMs that a car can have and that maximum is 18,000 RPMs. This is in excess of horizontal 5g around corners. G is g-force where the g means gravitational or g-force means weight per unit of mass.
To compare the g force of a stationary object resting on the earth’s surface is approximately 1g. Of course the formulas for these race cars have been changed over the years of this type of race. And also the race rules may change from time to time or even from one race year to another. For example in 2011 when these formula 1 cars come in for a pit stop they may change their tires or do some damage repair but they cannot do any refueling. These cars also have to use two different tire compositions but again this may vary from year to year. These specifications are not just for the Grand Prix de Monaco 2011 but for all of the Grand Prix races through out the world.
In Monaco the Sunday race length is 78 laps or 161.887 miles. This is slightly shorter than other formula 1 race circuits. Of course the course requires set up time and in the case of the Monaco Grand Prix it takes approximately six weeks to get the course set up and arranged correctly. Then it takes approximately three weeks to remove it when the race is finished.
